Hi again! It's the end of December and the snow is already melting! *Phooey* I would have thought that we would have at least 4 inches around now...but I guess that's the way the cookie crumbles!
I have a lot to say, now that most of the holidays are done!
Here is a story I am working on. Read my other blogs for more. Remember, it's not finished yet. Well here it is:I blinked as bright lights blazed to life, illuminating the gleaming bars of cages. I pulled down my cap that said ZOOKEEPER on it in peeling orange letters, and sighed heavily. This was the part of the day I dreaded the most. This was the time I had to feed the carnivores in the zoo. I especially hated the wolves. They were always staring at me as though they were trying to decide if I was the tastier meal, but of course, I had never been attacked. They were the fifth ones I had to feed.
I walked up to the cage of the black bear, who lifted his head, but then settled back down on the branch he was resting on. I tried to get the food as close to him as I could, while trying to keep my distance. "
Come on Mr. Man!" a voice called from behind the glass.
I turned around to see a whole class watching me. The speaker was a girl with orange hair kept in two tight pigtails, baby blue eyes, and freckles all over her face.
She was a lot cuter than me! I thought, touching my shaggy brown hair, that reached just below my ears. My eyes were brown, and I didn't have the slightest trace of a freckle anywhere.
She looked as though she was seven years old, where as I was about twenty. She bobbed her head up and down, and a sense of determination seized me. I crept up, and placed the meat under the bears nose.
Hurriedly I stepped back and went on to the Leopard, Panther, Tiger and then came to the spot where I was most afraid of.
There, standing at the gate looking hungrily at me, were the wolves. A chill went down my spine and I imagined them picking their teeth with my bones! I shivered and shook my head to try to block out the horrid vision.
Then, who would come to my rescue, but the animal doctor himself. He paused and looked at me, and then said, "Carter! I was wondering, would you do me a favor?" I nodded, not knowing what his terrible question was.
"Would you go get me that wolf sitting on the rock? He's been sick for the last few days and I've got to find out what's wrong with him." I swallowed hard. I couldn't and I wouldn't, but I had already said I would. So grudgingly, I walked over to the cage, bound by promise. I carefully slid back the latch, and the wolves ears pricked up. They watched me go past, but did not attack. I closed my eyes, and picked up the wolf on the rock. I recognized him as the one who usually growled at me, but this time, he looked to sick and weary to even mew. I brought him into a room and set him down on a white sheet.
"Thanks!" said the doctor, and gave me a pat on the back. "I want you to keep an eye on him while I go get some medicine, I'll be right back." he reassured me, and left.
I looked around the room. It had vile after vile of smoking neon liquids and bottles and bottles of pills.
Suddenly, a growl cut the air, and I whirled around. The wolf had leapt to his feet, and was slowly staggering toward me, foam dribbling out of his mouth. I had seen this only once before in a movie and I knew what was wrong with this wolf, he had rabies.
I scrambled backwards and turned around, slamming my head into a wall of little liquid filled tubes.
Stars popped and whizzed around in my vision, but I got up and ran. I stumbled along as fast as I could while the wolf kept his pace behind me.
Then a sharp pain began in my leg and ran up into my whole body. I was shaking so hard at first I didn't realize what had happened. But then as I focused I saw the wolf tearing into my leg. I yelled and shook my leg. the wolf flew off and hit a cabinet of bottles. My leg swung into a table and vile after vile came splattering out all over the floor. then it happened. I had gotten up to run again when a vile fell and broke on my leg. the oozy yellow liquid trickled down my leg, to the wound. I gasped in pain and fell to the floor. Then I felt a tiny prickle on my hands, and a growth on the tips of my fingers. I stared in horror as little grey hairs started sprouting on my hands. My fingernails were elongating into brown sharp claws. "What's happening to me?!"I cried.

I was so frightened, I couldn't move. I just stared at my hands in horror.
Then the feeling came back to my hands and slowly trickled down throughout my body. I tried to scream, but all that came out was a raspy howl. Then I felt a tingling sensation on my neck and slowly put down my hand. Thick, wiry grey and black hair was sprouting on my neck and was slowly reaching my chin. I bit my lip, trying to think of what to do next, but felt agonizing pain. I reached my finger down, and timidly felt my teeth. They had become sharp fangs. I let out another howl, and felt blood pour out of a puncture wound in my bottom lip.
Suddenly, my face started feeling too tight. I reached up and clutched my face. I could feel it stretching out into a long snout.
My nose was feeling a bit wetter and softer then before, and I could feel my shoes split as claws ripped through them.
My cap fell to the floor, ripped to pieces as two large ears popped out of the top of my head.
My cap! I thought. My lovely cap!
Well, I thought, I'm uglier than that girl now, for sure!
My hands had turned to paws, I had ears on the top of my head, and I had canines.
But then, I heard a hair prickling growl. I looked up, and through my piercing yellow eyes, I could see the other wolf, still dribbling at the mouth, and it was watching me. My ears bent down to my head, and I growled back at him.
My tail went between my legs...A TAIL?! I thought. I looked at my rear, and saw a massive grey bushy tail.
That was his chance. The other wolf sprang at me with a bound, and I barley saw him flying through the air, when he was upon me. I could feel claws ripping into my shoulder, and I let out a whine.
I threw him from me, and pounced, I only used my claws, for fear of getting rabies.
As I was hanging onto his back, I thought of something. I should have gotten rabies by now, since he bit me before. Why don't I have them? Of course I didn't want rabies, but I couldn't stop thinking about it. Then It clicked, I knew. I had figured it out. The vile that smashed on me, the liquid must have stopped it.
But then, I was jolted back to the fight with a CRASH, and a burning pain in my back. I turned around and frantically tried to claw the piece of glass that was wedged deeply in my back. Luckily it had missed my spine my an inch.
The piece of glass fell to the floor, and I sprang to face my attacker. We both ran at one another, and the next thing I knew, I was hurtling back, and crashed into a table. the wolf was slowly advancing on me when the bottles started falling. He dodged one, but then was knocked over by another. Then a howl pierced the air, and then was cut off. I scrambled to my paws, to see my attacker lying on the floor, a piece of a bottle stuck tight in his chest.
I was panting. Then I heard a voice.
"What the blazes happened in here?!"
It was the doctor, with a bottle of green liquid, clutched in his fist.
"You!" he called and started for me.
I ran and jumped for the nearest window. It smashed and I was out in the cold, snowy night air, running so fast that I was a grey and black blur amongst the snowy whiteness, not knowing, what was ahead of me. All I knew was that the zoo building was out of sight, and that I was lost in a great white forest.
Well, I'm not a professional, but I am hoping to someday get it published!
I guess I should rest now. I'm "babysitting" (well really just helping out while her parents are home) for a little girl named Susie. Read my next post for the next part to my story!

Just Another Crazy Day
Here it is, the first day of December and still NO SNOW!:(
I haven't posted on here for a while! Everything has been so crazy!
Last night Digby and his little friend Hoover, the Basset Hound, went to a training class called "Puppy Kindergarten", there they are trained and if they succeed their training level, they get to move up a level! At the start of class, they had a "Puppy Playtime" where all the dogs are let off their leash and they get to run and play. Digby went right out there for two seconds and then slunk into a corner behind the chairs. He's such a chicken (no offense or anything but...)so he missed out on all the fun, But otherwise he did pretty well.
Hoover is so cute, because their owners (my best friend, Jenna, and her family) named him after the Hoover vacuum cleaner, because his ears are longer than his head and they reach down to the floor and drag around.
Today was another crazy day at school, and my partner and I started to build a mini Go-Cart in science today. I hope we can finish it on Monday!
Tonight I think I'll try to get some ice cream, and watch some favorite shows.
I can't wait for the weekend! :)
